Privacy Policy
Run The Beat is an independent running-playlist app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify AB. This page explains exactly what data the app touches and what it keeps.
What you connect
The metronome and cadence tools work with no account at all. To find and save songs you connect Spotify, authenticating on Spotify’s own website (accounts.spotify.com) using Spotify’s standard OAuth flow. We never see or store your Spotify password.
What we access (only with your permission)
- Your Spotify display name and account type, to show who is connected.
- Your liked songs, top tracks and top artists (read-only), to find songs that match your target tempo.
- Your recently played tracks, followed artists, and playlists (read-only), used only in the moment to order tempo-matched suggestions toward your taste. This is never stored or shared.
- Permission to create a playlist — used only when you click “Save to Spotify”.
What we store
- A session cookie in your browser holding your Spotify access and refresh tokens. It is
httpOnly(not readable by page scripts) and lets the app act on your behalf until you disconnect. There is no user database and no server-side profile of you. - A tempo (BPM) cache keyed by song, so the app doesn’t look up the same track twice. It contains song identifiers only — nothing personal to you.
Who else is involved
- Spotify — sign-in and the music data above, under Spotify’s own privacy policy.
- GetSongBPM — public song-tempo lookups (no personal data is sent).
- Cloudflare — hosting and standard request logs.
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it for anything beyond building your playlist.
Removing your data
Click Disconnect in the app to delete the session cookie immediately. You can also revoke Run The Beat’s access any time from your Spotify apps page. Once disconnected, the app holds nothing that identifies you.
